Our Story

Olinda Community House: connecting, learning and growing together for all.

Established in 1988, Olinda Community House has been a welcoming hub for learning, connection and local participation for more than three decades. Located next to the Olinda Community Pool and just a short stroll from Olinda Village, the House is a place where people can come together to build skills, meet others, and find support close to home.

As a not-for-profit neighbourhood house, Olinda Community House is part of the statewide Victorian Neighbourhood House network — almost 400 houses working side-by-side with local communities. Each house responds to the specific needs of its neighbourhood, and in Olinda that means delivering programs that reflect life in the Dandenong Ranges — from fitness and art classes to social groups, community education, volunteer opportunities, and local partnerships.

Our Mission

Olinda Community House exists to empower, develop and enrich community life—the very essence of what neighbourhood houses have done across Victoria for more than five decades.

Local volunteers and staff co-design programs and activities that respond to what people in our Hills community want and need, making the house a genuinely community-driven hub.

Volunteer with us

Volunteering at Olinda Community House is a simple way to get involved, meet great people and make a real difference close to home.  Whether you’ve got a few hours to spare or specific skills to share, there’s a place for you here. Volunteers help bring programs to life, welcome new faces, support events and keep the House running smoothly.

In return, you’ll build new skills, grow your confidence, and become part of a connected, supportive community.  It’s local, it’s meaningful, and it matters.
